Luke Adam is sure making it hard for the Sabres to send him down when Jochen Hecht gets healthy enough to play again. The forward had two goals in a 4-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings.
Paul Gaustad and Drew Stafford added goals of their own, while Thomas Vanek continued his domination in the Sabres European tour with two assist of his own, giving him 5 points in his first two games.
The Sabres and the Kings played a scoreless 1st period, but things certainly picked up early in the second period, as rookie Luke Adam scored his first goal of the season. Adam striked again shortly after to make it 2-0 Buffalo.
Paul Gaustad continued the scoring for the Sabres later in the period, making it 3-0 Buffalo. Kings forward Anze Kopitar was able to haev his say in the matter, finally getting the Kings on the board late in the second period.
However, in the 3rd period, Drew Stafford sealed the deal, making it 4-1, putting the game out of reach for the Kings on a Sabres powerplay. Christian Ehrhoff looked like he scored his first goal as a Sabre, but that goal was waived off. Anze Kopitar scored his second goal of the with a little over four minutes to play, but it was too late at that point.
Ryan Miller made 31 saves on 33 shots, while Kings backup goalie Johnathan Bernier saved 22 of 26 Buffalo shots. Buffalo, again, played it safe in the 3rd period with only four shots as opposed to the Kings’ eleven.
